the trial
Section titled “the trial”Every new organization gets a 14-day free trial. Full feature access, no card required. During the trial you can have:
- 1 board
- 50 posts (across the trial board)
Hit either limit and create attempts return a billing-limit error. The trial is per organization, not per user. Custom domains are gated separately; they require an active paid subscription.
what happens at the end of the trial
Section titled “what happens at the end of the trial”If you have not subscribed by the time the trial ends, the organization enters a 7-day grace period. During grace:
- the public board, roadmap, and changelog stay live
- the admin dashboard switches to read-only: no new boards, posts, or status changes
- subscribe at any time to lift the read-only state
After grace, the org is archived: the dashboard shows a paywall, public surfaces switch to a generic “this board is paused” page. Your data is not deleted; subscribing restores access.
Once you subscribe and we record a payment_subscription_id, the trial limits go away (even if you later cancel). Your data and existing boards stay; you keep what you have. Cancellation puts the org through the standard grace flow described in trial and grace states.
payment providers
Section titled “payment providers”Spirby supports stripe and polar as interchangeable backends. Which one runs for your organization is a deploy-level choice, not user-facing; both surface the same checkout and customer portal flows.
billing portal
Section titled “billing portal”Subscribed organizations get a one-click link to their provider’s customer portal from settings → billing. Update card, change plan, or cancel, all from there. See subscribe and manage.
